Engage the Hui: Our Vision Statement

The best place to start when preparing to engage the Hui is with a vision. It is also helps to understand why we are encouraging you to engage the Hui. Our vision for the Hui has led us to not only develop this website but also recruit and mobilize others to join us in proclaiming the Gospel among the Hui.

There are different teams and churches working among the Hui, but overall our vision is the same: we all desire for Hui people to come to know and follow Jesus. A team’s specific giftings and skills may lead them to adopt a more specific vision, mission and goals. I want to share ours with you as a starting point. Later as you begin to craft your own vision statement, you may find that ours fits your church or team’s plans perfectly and no changes are needed, or you may decide to start with it as a foundation and develop a more specific one that addresses your church’s or team’s specific giftings and skills as well as the needs of the specific Hui population segment you are engaging.

vision“For God’s saving power to be known among the Hui people…”

May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make His face to shine upon us,
that Your way may be known on earth,
Your saving power among all nations.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!
Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for You judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth.
Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!
The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us;
let all the ends of the earth fear Him!
(Psalm 67 ESV)

We know that God loves the Hui people and desires for His Gospel to be proclaimed among them. We desire for all Hui to hear the Gospel and have access to the Bible. Therefore, we are passionate about making Christ known among the Hui through building a network of prayer supporters who desperately cry out to God on their behalf, raising up church-planting teams, and providing access to the Bible for all the Hui.

“by declaring God’s glory and His marvelous works…”

Oh sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Sing to the LORD, bless His name;
tell of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
His marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;
He is to be feared above all gods.
(Psalm 96:1-4 ESV)

We desire for God to be worshipped by the families and in the lands of the Hui people. Therefore, we will plant our lives among the Hui and worship God by singing to the LORD and praising His name and by declaring His Gospel to the Hui.

“through planting reproducing churches among the Hui people.”

Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
and thick darkness the peoples;
but the LORD will arise upon you,
and His glory will be seen upon you,
And nations shall come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your rising.
(Isaiah 60:1-3 ESV)

We desire for the light of Christ to shine brightly among the Hui, and we believe that Christ’s light shines brightest through Christ-followers who are connected to the body, the church of Christ. Therefore, we will plant our lives among the Hui to declare God’s glory and His marvelous works by proclaiming the Gospel, making disciples, and establishing indigenous reproducing churches that will make God’s salvation known among all Hui people and all nations.

How did we arrive at this vision?

We began by asking, “What is God’s vision for the Hui?” Psalm 67 (and other passages) makes it clear that God wants His saving power to be known among every nation or people group. This means God wants Hui people to know His saving power and to praise Him. Scripture is clear that God desires for Hui to follow Jesus and that there will be Hui people around the throne worshipping God (Revelation 7:9-10).

Seeing God’s vision helped us to understand that our vision should be the same. We should be passionate about making God’s saving power know among the Hui.

How did we determine our mission? Vision

After seeing God’s vision, we began asking, “How does God want His saving power to be known among the Hui?” Psalm 96:1-4 provides a clear answer. God wants to be worshipped all over the world. God wants His salvation to be proclaimed every day all over the world. God wants his glory and marvelous works to be declared to every nation and peoples of the earth. Why? Because God is worthy to be praised by every nation and people group.

Psalm 96 and Romans 10:13-15 show us that our mission is to declare God’s marvelous works among the Hui and to worship God among the Hui. We are to travel and live among the Hui and sing praises to the Lord. We are to interact with Hui individuals and families and proclaim the Gospel.

How does the goal connect to the vision and mission?

The Great Commission commands us to go and make disciples of all nations. It does not command us to go and plant churches (though believers are expected to be connected to a local faith family). However, the Hui are 15 million strong and scattered across multiple countries. If we desire to see Hui believers in all the different Hui population segments around the world, then we should desire to see churches form among the Hui that shine brightly for Jesus and consequently reproduce.

A community of Hui believers united in Christ worshipping together, serving one another, and serving their community through the power of the Holy Spirit will draw people out of darkness to the light of Jesus. Our goal is to see healthy churches form that regularly reproduce and continue declaring the saving power of God among the Hui long after we are gone.

Prayer Requests

  • Pray for God’s saving power to be known among the Hui.
  • Pray that God’s glory and marvelous works will be declared among the Hui.
  • Pray that reproducing churches will be planted among the Hui.
